Gunay’s Garden, Kaya Valley
Superbly Sited Poolside Villas. Villa rentals from £1300 pw
Five attractive stone villas set around a large pool in delightful walled grounds with views over wheat fields and olive groves to Kaya’s celebrated ‘ghost village’; the week’s stay tends to start with expressions of wonder from first-time visitors as they throw back the curtains to the bleached ruins scattered through the pine forest. Spacious and practical interiors on two floors, though most summer guests inevitably become rather better acquainted with the villa’s room-sized balconies, with the pool-side loungers and with the shaded and cushioned Ottoman-style kiosks set among the extensive lawns.
Gateways lead to an adjacent bar and restaurant, Izela, where owner and self-taught chef Tolga turns out exceptional mezes and salads throughout the day and oversees a classy dining service in the evening. This is a popular and excellently run complex which bustles with happy, mostly overseas guests of all ages.
