Villa and Holiday Operators Explained
Many visitors to Turkey buy holiday packages including flights, transfers and car hire from specialists in their home country. The best of these mainly UK-based companies offer exceptional service, and many of their (mainly British) staff are long-term Turkey residents. They offer excellently maintained and serviced accommodation, although the exclusive arrangement they have with their featured hotels can have a standardising effect upon the clientele; if it concerns you that there’s less likelihood of bonding over dinner with locals or other exotics than with compatriots who, say, turn out to be chums of your Ilminster cousins, then specify a hotel where your tour operator holds a limited number of rooms. That should make for a more unpredictable mix.
The staple product offered by these operators is the one-centre week, though they can be flexible if you are after a holiday split between two addresses. More than that, however, and you’re deemed to be touring; you’re unlikely, that is, to be offered a short stay of a night or two in a hotel room that the operator hopes to sell for the entire week. There will, however, always be places (including many of the properties featured in this website) that welcome short stays. Or ask your operator to tailor-make your itinerary, using where necessary accommodation not featured in their brochure.
