Palamutbükü Beach

Palamutbükü Beach, Datça Peninsula

The far-flung and undeveloped Datça Peninsula is home to scores of romantic coves and strands, though many of them are as out of reach as the lovely Domuz Çukuru, a good three-hour walk from Hayıtbükü or a boat trip from Datça or Mesudiye.

One welcome exception way out west on the way to Knydos is the enormous shingle and sand strand at Palamutbükü. Palamutbükü, despite the bleached timber chalets, the low-built boutique hotel and the garden bars lining the lane, feels deeply geared-down. It’s a raffish and verdant place where individual types wash up, not a destination known to tour operators. A harbour of sorts attracts more adventurous gulets.
